Mindset, food as medicine, and energy work to rebuild your self-worth, stop letting fear rule your choices, and create a life you actually love after an HSV diagnosis.

So you end up googling at 2am, wondering if your life is over. It's not. I've been exactly where you are.
Maybe this sounds familiar:
You've rehearsed the conversation a hundred times and assumed the worst every time.
You've caught yourself thinking that no one will want you now.
You've pulled back from dating, or from people, because hiding feels safer.
You've numbed it, ignored it, or stayed busy so you don't have to feel it.
You're carrying this alone, because who would you even tell?
I've felt every one of those. What pulled me out wasn't waiting until I felt hopeful. It was learning that hope is a skill. Brené Brown writes that hope isn't an emotion you either have or don't. It's something you learn and practice. That's where we start.
Acceptance: making peace with the diagnosis, and separating the facts from the stigma you were taught
Values: getting clear on what you want in a partner, because a diagnosis doesn't change what you deserve
Detach: letting go of the fear of rejection, so one person's reaction stops defining your worth
The Conversation: how to tell a partner, with scripts for what to say and when to say it
For almost twenty years, I numbed the hurt with whatever I could find: cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, the wrong relationships. Somewhere along the way I learned the only person I could depend on was me.
Then I was diagnosed with HSV in the middle of a move to a new state, alone, with no job lined up and my "new life" over before it began. It could have been one more reason to numb out. Instead, it became a turning point.
Today I'm a year sober, living in a van with my dog Nola, and continuing to build a life I actually love. Healing wasn't linear, and it still isn't. But a diagnosis isn't the end of your story. Sometimes it's where the real one starts.
